Wow, It's really big in life. I've only seen this pot in books. As a matter of fact I tried to make this pot when I was a student back in 1983. I didn't even know how to throw so the teacher showed me how to coil build. I did it, but not quite this big. I remember it because of the motif, which looks like some sort of funeral procession. Alex Matisse recently completed two apprenticeships with NC potters, the first with Matt Jones of Sandy Mush, and then with Mark Hewitt of Pittsboro. He is currently working on his own kiln in East Fork, a small farming community outside of Asheville, NC.
