It certainly has been busy over here. The kiln has been fired and cooled and after one more day of cooling we'll take down the door. This past weekend Mark took me, Joseph, and Julie Jones to Washington DC to visit the archives underneath both the Freer and the Sackler galleries. In large glass cases you can pick out out pots from very early neolithic earthenware all the way up to the 19th century. The collection encompasses everything considered Asian, which includes Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Korea and the Islamic World which at times inlcuded places as far west as Spain. It is hard to describe how fantastic and experience it is to have access to those pots which have informed so much of cermic history as well as being personal influences to me and many others. The best thing about this is that anyone can go up there, call ahead, and schedule and appointment. Its your tax dollars at work...use them.
Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks.

Hey Alex, Sorry I'll miss cleaning pots for your final firing, so much going on here and I leave for Penland on Sunday. I will look forward to visiting your pottery one day soon! Best wishes!!!
that shot is true production at work!
Or working production.
Holding old pots- priceless!
We used to play links on the cooling days, but hitting the green paddocks of the Smithsonian sounds pretty good, too. I've been there a few times and there's nothing like tossing around some Jomon! The Mint has a pretty amazing storeroom as well. But I haven't been there in a while. Plus, they're not as comfortable letting potters handle the pots. Maybe that would be a bonus while at the Mint Invitational show for the potters. maybe I'll mention that Elsya. Look forward to seeing the preview pictures, since I won't be able to scrub pots or come to the kiln opening. Wish everyone "Good Luck"
You're allowed to TOUCH the works??!! Amazing! that would be the best part.
I think I stumbles across pottery heaven! Great Stuff!
