A few pictures from the past few days. The kiln is loaded and preheating. Tomorrow we start bumping up the heat and should finish everything up by Monday night. More pictures to follow...
Alex, Glad you've enjoyed the videos. I'll be posting photos of some new work (mid-process) soon. It's been exciting and a bit weird to apply such a strict tradition to my own work, I'm sure you can relate.
I've enjoyed following your blog over the past few months. LOVE the Turkish pots. Glad you're back blogging again.
Alex Matisse recently completed two apprenticeships with NC potters, the first with Matt Jones of Sandy Mush, and then with Mark Hewitt of Pittsboro. He is currently working on his own kiln in East Fork, a small farming community outside of Asheville, NC.

Whew, serious manual labor! Give me a call if you guys need help after the unload.
I love the picture of the sun lit fog/mist. Best of luck to you all with fire. Be on the lookout for those old "holey" gloves.
OMG, those pieces are huge. I can't wait to see them finished. They're already gorgeous, though.

Holy cow those are some big pots. Best of luck with the firing. Can't wait to see it opened up.
